Landmarks

Landmarks

In 1993 I accompanied David Craig on the British part of his world exploration of great rocks. Rocks differ from stones in that they are still attached to the bedrock however they have been shaped by nature or man, whereas stones have been hewn and usually placed deliberately into position. However, time and again the rocks have human association and story surrounding them.

In his book Landmarks, published by Jonathan Cape 1994, Dave wanted to discover the significance of these great rocks and to see how people lived by them or even on them, and in some cases he could not resist the urge to climb them.
